Housing Cooperatives: An Accessible and Lasting Tool for Home Ownership

This handout was development to help educate potential or new coop home owners. Members of the cooperative live in the cooperative and run the cooperative—from organizing social activities, to maintenance, to handling finances and landscaping. Member set the bylaws and elect, from among themselves, a board of directors. The board ensures that the cooperative runs smoothly, in accordance with the cooperative’s bylaws and operating agreements. The board organizes a membership meeting at least annually, and hires staff to run the cooperative’s day-to-day business.....

The Cooperative Housing Conversion Toolbox

This manual is meant to be a guide for groups wishing to convert their living space into a Cooperative. This Toolbox has broad applications--from leasehold housing co-ops wishing to convert to equity co-ops, to tenants in an apartment or house who wish to purchase the property. A special section addressed the needs of mobile home park residents trying to convert their park to cooperative ownership. Residents of existing co-ops will also find this manual very useful in improving the operations and governance of their co-ops. Several case histories are included, as well as a comprehensive comparison of co-op housing versus other forms of housing. $20.00 each

A Practical Guide to Community Supported Agriculture on Reservations

Communities value the relationship with the farmer and the land that participation in a CSA provides, while farmers are rescued from the isolation of farming. CSA’s can also act as educational tools, where farmers teach their communities about the land, what it takes to produce vegetables from week to week and nutritious recipes for the produce they deliver.
